Content Planning - November 2020 "Days"

It’s officially November and the holiday season is upon us! I don’t know about y’all, but amidst the craziness, I have so much to be thankful for this year. 2020 has taught all of us so much about ourselves and one thing I am taking into the holiday season specifically is gratitude. I hope you take the time to celebrate what means the most to you this holiday season. In the meantime, let’s get to content planning!

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than one or two of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your content this month:

  • Team up with a fellow biz owner on November 17th for National Entrepreneur’s Day. You could to Live together to talk about their business journey or tips specific to their field of expertise. Be sure to promote beforehand on both of your accounts!

  • Add in a post on World Kindness Day (November 13th) or National Philanthropy Day (November 15th). This time of year, people are determining where to spend their money for holiday gifting and seeing businesses that display strong values can make that purchasing decision even easier than a sale ever could!

  • Black Friday (November 27th) and Small Business Saturday (November 28th) are huge pillars in many small biz’s content this month. Remember - don’t get too sales-y! Consider making an Instagram Stories template so people can share their favorite small businesses!

Happy planning!
