Content Planning - December 2020 "Days"

I can’t believe we’re starting the very last month of 2020! While this holiday season may be looking a bit different than in years past, I think that means we have even more reason to relax and celebrate! Give yourself the gift of a stress-free holiday season (social media wise, at least) by knocking out your content planning right now.

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than one or two of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

December 18th looks like a great holiday for a fun themed post on your feed - we all have that one tacky holiday sweater we just can’t get enough of! Personally, I’m looking forward to December 24th - yes, it is Christmas Eve, but it’s also my 33rd birthday! There will be a very good mix of cookies and bubbly in the Phillips household that day. 😉 The holiday season brings with it so many inspiring ideas for content, so get creative this month!

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your content this month:

  • Consider sharing a thank you to your followers on Stories or in your feed on December 26th, National Thank You Note Day. This is a great opportunity to show your gratitude for their support over the holiday season and this crazy year!

  • A fun IGTV idea for December could be sharing your favorite items of 2020, scheduled to post on December 31st or January 1st!

  • I think we can all agree on one thing - 2020 has been quite the year! Looking back on all we’ve learned, while also looking forward to 2021, is a great overall theme for December content.
