Content Planning - March 2021 "Days"

Happy March, everyone! We have had a little taste of spring weather in the Upstate of South Carolina, which only makes me more excited for warmer days, spring blossoms, and sunshine ahead! ☀️ Let’s get to planning content for this month!

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than a couple of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your content this month:

  • Start the month off on a positive note on March 1st for World Compliment Day. This is a great opportunity to share a customer review! Consider sharing a carousel feed post with a photo of a client (or the product being reviewed) as the first image, and then have your followers swipe to see the second image, a graphic that includes the text of the positive review.

  • Include a post on International Women’s Day, March 8th, to celebrate some influential women in your life! You can add these posts on your feed or post some Stories showing women who have empowered you throughout your life. Ask your followers to tag or share about a female figure they admire in the comments of the post.

  • If you have a team, give a shout-out to them on March 5th for Employee Appreciation Day! People love to see behind the scenes of your business. Consider going Live to do a Q&A with your team or doing an Instagram Stories takeover with an employee.

  • Add some fun to your feed by writing out a funny awkward story from your time in small business on March 18th for Awkward Moments Day! This can be a light-hearted post that gives your followers some insight into the not-so-picture-perfect moments of owning your own small business!

  • Incorporate a happy spring picture on March 20th for International Day of Happiness and the First Day of Spring. The spring weather brings so much joy, and this is a great day to bring some sunshine to your followers’ feeds.
