Content Planning - April 2021 "Days"

April is almost here and we could not be more thrilled for the sunshine and smiles ahead! ๐ŸŒบ As we usher spring in, we want to give you some fresh content ideas, including April social media holidays!

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than a couple of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your content this month:

  • Throw a little fun into your feed with an April Fools joke/prank on your following! Ideas for this include: (1) Play โ€œTwo Truths and a Lieโ€ and ask people to guess which fact youโ€™re fooling them on in the comments, or (2) Join in on the April 1st fun with a silly product or service announcement to see if your following will catch on! Both of these ideas will increase engagement on your posts and stir up some prankster fun!

  • On April 10th, give your siblings a shoutout for National Siblings Day! Your followers will love to hear more about where you come from and who helped encourage you to get where you are todayโ€ฆ especially if your business is family-focused. This is also a great way to get some brownie points with your siblings. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Get To Know Your Customers Day (April 15th) is a great opportunity to engage with your following. Post a story with a question box asking about them, add a question to your IG caption, or even host a small giveaway where the entry is telling you about themselves in the comments! There are endless opportunities here for engagement!

  • Use April 23rd, World Book Day, share about your favorite business book and ask your followers what theyโ€™re reading lately!

  • On International Dance Day (April 29th), add some energy to your Reels by posting a dancing video. Include overlays with fun facts about yourself, your favorite songs to dance to, what is special about your business, etc. Happy Dancing! ๐Ÿ’ƒ
