Content Planning - August 2020 "Days"

Happy August, friends! I hope you’re hanging in there and ready to rock your content planning this month!

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than a couple of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

August is bringing a ton of fun holidays that you can be using in your content calendars! I have to admit, I think National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day would be perfect for those of us with backyard gardens who are looking to add some silliness into our newsfeed!

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your August content:

  • Go Live with your biz bestie on August 2nd for National Friendship Day and take about your entrepreneurial journeys!

  • Share your favorite book with your followers on Stories for World Book Day on August 9th

  • Tell your best industry-specific joke for National Joke Day on August 16th.

  • Working from home with your pup? Introduce your followers to your furry friend for National Dog Day on August 26.

You know yourself and your business better than anyone - share that with your audience to create engagement, personal connections, and customer loyalty!
