Content Planning - October 2021 "Days"

BOO! Spooky Season is officially upon us y’all! October has got to be one of our favorite months, we are ready for pumpkin spice everything, scary movies, and the beautiful fall weather. Q4 is here and we’re ready to finish the last quarter of 2021 strong! As always, we want to make sure you’re prepared for the month ahead. Here are October social media holidays you may want to add to your content plan!

Before jumping in, just a few reminders about these "days":

  1. Don't post on more than a couple of these "days". No one wants to follow an account that's just full of National "Days".

  2. Make sure it ties into your brand! Why does it matter that you're chiming in on this day? Why should someone care? Can you tie your product or service to that day?

  3. Get your hashtags right! Ensure that you've got the one main hashtag and any related hashtags ready to go when you post. This is a great way to expand your reach on social and get discovered by new accounts. I like to post the main hashtag in my copy and then comment with the other 29 (or less) hashtags.

  4. Plan it out! Write down the date on your calendar (especially if you have a content calendar for social!) and go ahead and plan out the photo and copy you're going to post.

Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration for planning out your content this month:

  • On National Do Something Nice Day (October 5 ) Host a giveaway! Have your followers nominate a friend or someone they feel is deserving of the item/s you’re giving away!

  • For October 26, National Pumpkin Day, host a “Pumpkin Carving Contest” and have your followers send in pumpkins they’ve carved! Share the pumpkins to your story and have your followers pick their favorites!

  • On Halloween/Day of the Dead, October 31st, have your followers send in photos of their Halloween costumes, and feature your favorites on your story!
