Meet Zainab :: Summer Intern

When I was a student at Clemson University, I completed four internships. Each of them were so important and helped me decide what I wanted to pursue (or didn’t want to pursue!) upon graduation. Since founding Pinckney Palm, it’s been my desire to pay it forward by providing opportunities for college students to have their own hands-on internship experience with social media strategy, content creation, and client relations. We have a history of incredible interns here at Pinckney Palm, and I’m excited to introduce you to our newest one! Zainab will be working with Ryann, our Social Media Coordinator, from Pinckney Palm’s Upstate SC headquarters this summer.

Here’s a fun interview we did with Zainab so you can learn more about her:

Welcome to the Pinckney Palm team, Zainab! Give us a quick overview - hometown, college, family, hobbies, etc.

Hello! I’m Zainab Bhagat, but my friends call me Z like the letter. I am so thrilled to be on the Pinckney Palm team for the summer! I am originally from Irmo, SC, and love spending time back home! Right now, you can find me gearing up to start my senior year at Wofford College where I study finance and English. In my free time, there is nothing I love more than trying new foods, spending time at the gym, reading with a cup of tea in hand, planning get togethers with friends, making stickers for my business “Make You Mine,” and sharing my heart on my blog, Hustle + Heart!

What’s your favorite social media channel?

I am a big Instagram girl! (Side note from Erin & Ryann - go follow Zainab at @zainabkb!)

Top 3 favorite people to follow on Instagram?

This is a particularly hard question to answer because I follow so many different wonderful people on Instagram!

I love blogger sisters @always.aya + @always.dania along with @Rachel.Awtrey and @food4fuel__ (she has the best healthy recipes)!

Favorite book?

This changes frequently, but I love A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini! I definitely shed happy, heartbroken, and hopeful tears throughout my reading experience.

Top 3 songs on your motivation playlist?

I love any song that I can sing along to, but when I really need to be motivated I am partial to old school Taylor Swift (Should’ve Said No is a favorite), Them Dirty Bones by Mike Waters, and Diamonds by Johnnyswim!

What are your top used emojis?

💃🏽🙌🏽💛

If we were to look at your Explore page on Instagram, what kind of posts would we find?

You would see lots of pretty quotes, gorgeous travel destinations, and #FoodInTheAir.

Why social media? What draws you to it?

I think one of the greatest things about social media is that it connects people all over the world. It’s interesting to stumble across someone’s little corner of the internet and learn something new or make a friend!

Favorite destination to live #LifeUnderThePalm?

I recently got back from a semester traveling all over Europe and absolutely fell in love with Nice, France. So, #LifeUnderThePalm in the south of France sounds pretty darn perfect!

What are you most excited about when it comes to interning with Pinckney Palm this summer?

I am so excited to be working with and learning from two incredible women. Ryann and Erin are so inspiring and total #girlbosses. There is so much that I don’t know about social media, and I am so ready to dig in and get started!

What’s your thing? What do your friends know you for or know you love?

I think I am most known for always being the first and last one on the dance floor and never meeting a stranger that didn’t become a friend. My friends would say that I love to have fun and that I am always up for a treat-- whether that be an ice cream date, buying a new dress, or a mid study session dance party. Also, I seem to always confidently sing the wrong words to songs on the radio, laugh harder than I should at my own jokes, and eat a little too much dark chocolate!
